Deepak Paramishavan

 
 

Dr. Deepak Paramashivan is a composer, actor, Sarangi player, and an ethnomusicologist based in Canada. Deepak recieved his PhD in energy and climate modeling, with a gold medal, from the Indian Institute of Science. He received his second doctorate in Ethnomusicology from the University of Alberta, Canada. He was trained in Kannada theater (Kannada Rangabhumi) under the guidance of his father Late R Paramashivan, a renowned Kannada theater personality. He studied Drama performance and Production and Shakespeare acting under Prof David Barnet, and clowning, physical comedy and physical movement theater under Prof Michael Kennard, at the University of Alberta, Canada. He has composed music and acted in the Kannada/Sanskrit bilingual film Ekachakram and the upcoming Kannada film Maavu Bevu. As a performer, he has toured Europe, USA, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea. He has collaborated with the Oscar winning composer A R Rehman, Hollywood composer Rick Boston, Late Pandit Birju Maharaj.
