Next Generation of SA Dance

I am most excited about our upcoming presentation, The Next Generation of South Asian Dance, April 17 & 18. I began the journey of creating this evening of dance working with our city's international dance artist, Usha Gupta. Her last two works, Aalap and KHOJ, featured dancers and musicians from both Edmonton and India. These presentations made me realize that Edmonton's community of people from Indian descent is large, diverse, and encouraging a vibrant community of artists. It made me think, how could BWDC celebrate this fantastic evolution?

Fortier Danse Creations - SOLO 70

It is with real pleasure that BWDC welcomes Paul-Andre Fortier to Edmonton for one last performance. Yes, these up coming shows will be the very last performances by this amazing dance icon. He is one of the dance artists that put Montreal on the map when it comes to experimental dance. Whenever he has performed in Edmonton, he and his famous outside eye, Ginelle Chagnon, have made themselves part of our dance community. It's hard not to be engaged by their wit, commitment and willingness to go all the way in making contemporary dance the vital art form it is.
